FAQ in SPC Flooring Production and Solutions

During the production of SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring, production teams continuously face and solve various challenges to ensure smooth operations. Here's a brief introduction to some common issues and their solutions:

1. Frequent Material Clogging in the Extruder

Material clogging in the extruder is a common issue that sometimes requires daily dismantling of the mold for cleaning. This issue generally necessitates checking the wear and tear of the mold, confluence core, and screw. If wear or overheating of the confluence core is discovered, it might be necessary to adjust the screw gap or check if the vacuum system is functioning properly. To resolve this issue, first, readjust the screw gap and slow down the production speed slightly; if the problem lies in the formula, adjustments should be made according to the material situation, often due to improper proportions of stabilizers and lubricants.

2. Wear Layer Folding and Bubbling During Production

This issue is mainly due to incorrect angles of the laminating roller and guide roller during the lamination process, preventing gas from escaping, or insufficient air pressure of the laminating roller. This problem is relatively simple to solve by carefully observing and adjusting the rollers' angles and air pressure. As for the issue of screw thread patterns on the product, this is a more challenging problem, usually resolved by replacing the screw.

Basic Formula for SPC Flooring

PVC

Caco3 (Calcium Carbonate)

Ca-zn Stabilizer (Calcium Zinc Stabilizer)

  • Stearic Acid

  • PE WAX (Polyethylene Wax)

  • CPE135a

  • ACR, etc.

The formula may vary slightly among manufacturers, but the above is a basic formulation.

Common Issues Analysis - Poor Product Formation

  1. Unstable Product Dimensions: This could be due to an unreasonable ratio of internal to external lubricants in the formula or unstable feeding speed. Solutions include improving the lubricant ratio and correcting feeding faults.

  2. Appearance and Performance Issues: Such as uneven gloss, noticeable color differences, and poor performance, which may be caused by an unreasonable formula structure or excessive use of inorganic fillers. To address these issues, it's necessary to correct the formula structure and appropriately reduce the amount of inorganic filler.

  3. Product Warping or Deformation: This might be caused by the extruder head and the molding die not being on the same plane or too high cooling water temperature. Solutions involve adjusting the position of the extruder head and molding die, reducing extrusion speed and cooling water temperature.
