How to Choose PVC Resin for PVC Foam Board Production

PVC foam board is widely used in furniture panels, advertising boards and interior decoration materials. The performance of the board is closely related to the quality of the raw materials used, especially the PVC resin.

For most foam board production lines, PVC Resin SG5 is the preferred grade. It offers balanced molecular weight distribution and stable processing behavior during extrusion foaming. SG5 resin provides good melt strength, which helps maintain a stable foaming structure and improves the surface smoothness of the board.

Another important factor is the apparent density of the PVC resin. Higher apparent density helps improve feeding performance in the extruder and ensures more consistent processing conditions.

In addition, PVC resin used for foam boards should have low impurity content and good whiteness. This helps reduce surface defects and improves the overall quality of the finished boards.

In practical production, PVC resin is usually used together with several additives such as acrylic processing aids, impact modifiers and lubricants. These additives help enhance melt strength, stabilize foaming and improve the final mechanical performance of the boards.

Selecting a stable and reliable PVC resin grade such as SG5, combined with appropriate additives, can significantly improve both production efficiency and product quality in PVC foam board manufacturing.
