Welcome: Vikem New Materials Co.,Limited

PVC RESIN (SG3/SG5/SG8)

Suspension PVC resin (polyvinyl chloride) is the foundation of the PVC industry. VIKEM supplies four standard grades — SG3, SG5, SG7 and SG8 — with consistent K-values, low VCM residual and excellent thermal stability. For pipes, profiles, sheets, cables, foam board and flexible applications.

Main Grades: SG3 (K-Value 71-72),
SG5 (K-Value 66-68),
SG8 (K-Value 57-59).
• Key Applications: Extensively used in manufacturing rigid PVC pipes, window profiles, fittings, sheets, edge bandings, foaming boards, as well as flexible cables, hoses, and artificial leather.
• Standard Packaging: 25kg Kraft paper bags or PP woven bags. Customized jumbo bags (1000kg) available.

As a trusted supplier, we ensure stable supply, competitive factory price, and rigorous quality control for global plastics manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between suspension PVC resin and emulsion PVC resin?

A: Suspension PVC (S-PVC) is made via suspension polymerization and is the most common type — accounting for about 80% of global PVC production. It has a porous particle structure, good plasticizer absorption, and is used for pipes, profiles, sheets and most general applications. Emulsion PVC (E-PVC) is made via emulsion polymerization, has much finer particles, and is used for paste applications like dip molding, coatings and artificial leather. VIKEM supplies suspension grade PVC resin.

Q: What does SG5 mean in PVC resin?

A: SG stands for "Suspension Grade" in the Chinese national standard (GB/T 5761). SG5 is the 5th suspension grade, with a K-value range of 66–68 and a polymerization degree of 1000–1100. It is the most versatile and widely used PVC resin grade, suitable for pipes, profiles, sheets, foam board and many other applications.

Q: How do I choose between SG3, SG5 and SG8?

A: Choose based on your application and required balance of rigidity vs. flexibility:

  • SG8 (K=55–59): Highest rigidity, best flow, for injection molding and thin-wall products

  • SG5 (K=66–68): Universal grade, balanced properties, for pipes, profiles, sheets (most common)

  • SG3 (K=71–72): Highest impact strength and flexibility, for cable compounds, hoses, artificial leather

If you're not sure which grade to use, contact our technical team with your application details.

Q: Can PVC resin be used for food-contact or drinking water applications?

A: Yes, but only specific food-grade grades that meet relevant regulatory standards (FDA, NSF, EU 10/2011, etc.). The PVC resin itself needs to have low VCM residual (≤1 µg/g, which our grades meet), but the final formulation (including stabilizers, lubricants and other additives) must also be food-contact compliant. Please specify your application and target market regulations when requesting a quote.

Q: What is the minimum order quantity for PVC resin?

A: Our minimum order quantity is typically For container load orders (40' FCL = ~28 MT), we offer the most competitive pricing. Smaller sample quantities (25–50 kg) are available for testing purposes — contact us to request samples.
